Arkarna is an electro pop group out of London consisting of Ollie Jacobs and Matt Hart. Ollie has collaborated with everyone from The Prodigy to Barry Manilow. These guys are have been on hiatus but recently returned to the studio to record a new album.

The Naked and Famous is an electro alternative group out of New Zealand. “Young Blood” debut at number one on the New Zealand Singles Chart and stayed there for 12 consecutive weeks. These guys are about to kick off a tour at the end of December. You can find tickets here.

In mid 2007 until late 2008, Martin Bonventre toured with RATATAT on keys. Fast forward to present day and we have the debut album out of his new band, The French Kings. I enjoy that “Ladies and Gentlemen” doesn’t elude to the obvious influence from his time on the road with RATATAT.

I couldn’t help but LOL at Owl City when he said in an interview, “I’ve never heard of The Postal Service.” Then a few months later, guess who he unintentionally admitted was his number one influence.

Before I dive into this great new band I need to talk about a dream I just woke up from.

In this dream, I was at the premier of the new Twilight movie… Don’t ask me why, I’m just as confused as you at this point.

Anyways, I’m at this red carpet event and I have a sign with me that I’m carrying around in protest.

I look up to read this sign and it reads, “Out with Pattinson, In with Heder.”

Jon Heder is the dude who played Napoleon Dynamite.

So now I’m awake and confuzzled…

Is someone trying to extract information from my dreams?

…or trying to plant ideas in my head for a greater purpose?

Am I still dreaming? DUN DUN DUN!

Any theories? I’m all ears.

On to the music. I was lookin feelin’ like a million bucks, I stumbled upon this next song and now I’m fresh dressed. The Cassette Kids hail from Sydney. They recently returned to the studio after a massive tour circuit in which they played along side of The Ting Things, Crystal Castles and the Presets.

Their upcoming album “Nothing on TV” is set to release in early 2011 and includes collaborations from the likes of Richard Wilkinson (Hot Chip) and Van She.

These Electric Lives is an stunning electro rock band out of Toronto, CA who have been remixed by some outstanding artists, the most notable coming out of TMDP and OPOPO.

The Explorers are an electro rock duo out of Sheffield, UK who formed in late 2009. With breathe easy vibes that fit between Phoenix and MGMT, this act is going to have no problem finding a home.

These guys are currently unsigned but with such well placed hooks and songs of youth past, don’t expect this to last. They are currently recording a new album and plan to tour in support of the release.

The much anticipated Pendulum album entitled Immersion drops today. Album sales are at their worst in history and in order to survive an artist must find new and original ways to stay alive. Pendulum has done exactly this.

But I thought you said Pendulum is releasing an album today, so what in the freaking wakkos are you talking about?

Pendulum is the first Drum and Bass act to transition into the mainstream. They’ve always stayed true to their sound and were able to make the move by introducing live performance D&B shows. Becoming the very first Drum and Bass band.

This is an extremely important element of any act “making it”. It’s all in how you bill yourself as an artist. Ratatat, MGMT, Guetta and even Lady Gaga are all electronic artists billed as a band or a pop artist. Guetta is a producer, but he collaborates with musicians that have a strong live presence. It’s not about CD sales anymore, it’s about shows.

Pendulum has adapted by releasing songs that immediately paint a picture and leave you amped for their live performances. Some tracks on Immersion give DnB fans the instant gratification they’ve come to expect from Pendulum while others dive into the other genres of electronica music.

Ohh, how I’ve missed the angst in your music Sonny. “Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count” was dope as hell. “Emily” was the first song I ever learned to play on guitar.

What you came out with right after leaving FFTL was good, but honestly I expected a little more. I have to admit, I turned my back on you for a bit there. For shame. Your “Bad Romance” remix put you back on my radar, but this new shit is so good I think you deserve about 10 of those gold stars we use to get back in elementary school.

I’ve been getting some fantastic new material to blog about lately. Thank you everyone for your submissions, keep them coming in.

I love musicians who refuse to limit themselves to the stereotypes of genres. Mitten is a female indie pop duo out of Brooklyn who have found a perfect balance of electronic and pop music. This first track “Similar Sense”, couldn’t help remind me of Phoenix.

After taking one listen, it’s not hard to see why they have been gaining enormous support from all corners of them internets. Mittens is currently recording an EP and has plans to release it later this year.

Next up we have My Satellite out of Los Angeles. This young producer clean production style make for an electrifying sound. The layers of instrumentation in his track, “A Nighttime Daydream” explode into your eardrums.
