It’s not like Phoenix needs an introduction, they’ve been everywhere in the media over the last year and were even able to break out and onto the radio airwaves. I hold them as one of today’s popular music key influences. You can’t listen to top 40 for fifteen minutes without hearing songs with some electro influence.

The question now, will the electronic scene continue to emerge on hit radio? It’s been said that Dub-step will soon take it’s place. I can see this but not as you and I know it today… certain elements are needed to make a song radio friendly. Dub fits many of these elements and with a little tweaking, we’re there. Artists are crossing the lines of genre more now than ever.

Considering the transformation the genre has taken this past year, it’s not impossible for that to happen within the near future. There’s always the risk of the musical landscape changing before this happens, but with singles today having seven or eight month lifespans that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
