How did you two meet and was it love at first sight?

Noah: From day one we were like there is business to do here. We met at Drexel University.

Chiddy: We were both freshman and he was a music industry major and I was a business major and we had a mutual friend that connected us. He was like you are good at rapping and my boy is good at beats and then we started experimenting. We’d sneak into the studios at Drexel…

Noah: We stopped going to class, parties, we just gave our lives away.

How would you explain your music in three sentences to your 8 year old nephew?

Noah: One guy runs around and raps. I play the drums. It’s crazy.

We know who Chiddy is, where did bang come from?

Chiddy: There was really no “Bang” when we came up with the name.

Noah: It was Chiddy and my ensemble of white boys.

Chiddy: Really, my name is Chidera but I’ve been called Chiddy since I was a little kid. Chiddy Band was a name I used for all my musical projects prior to meeting Noah. When I started working with Noah we starting thinking about what to call ourselves, we used Chiddy Chiddy Bang Bang but that was way too much, so we were like “Let’s just shorten this thing down, Chiddy Bang, it is what it is”

Are you interested in collaborating with anybody?

Noah: Yea, Waka Flocka.

Chiddy: On the new album coming out at the end of the summer, we got the boy Pharrell, Q-tip, Killer Mike.

Noah: It’s be cool to work with Kanye, Lauryn Hill, Outkast…

Chiddy: We just wanna work with cool, creative people.

What, who, when, and where inspires your sound?

Chiddy:
What: Life.

Who: All the artists I’ve grown up listening to: Lauryn hill, Jay-Z, cats like Red Man, Naughty by Nature.

Where: Places I’ve been, you know Jersey, Philly, I’ve got those elements in my life and they come out in music. Really though, Nigeria inspires me. I was just there, Nigeria and Paris. I go to Nigeria every year and every time I go I just come back inspired to create new shit. They live on so little but are still content with what they have.

When: Back in the day, nostalgia. Being young, being a kid.

Noah:
Who: DJ premier and Joe Strummer

When: 1991

Where: On the block

What: Opening up a fire hydrant for all the little kids

If I came home and looked in your refrigerator what would I find?

Noah: Three cartons of Mexican food, two cases of beer, box of frozen chicken breasts, a whole bunch of onions, hot sauce, and hummus.

What equipment do you use in your live set-ups and what do you use for recording?

Noah: During live setups we use native instruments audio 2 DJ, native instruments drum machine and drumset and to record we use native instruments logic 9.0 with reason and native instruments machine and a microphone.

When you were making opposite of adults did you know it was gold in the studio or was it more of a ‘this is really happening’ kind of vibe after it was released?

Noah: This is a catchier song from the rest of the songs.

Chiddy: When we made it, I had no idea who MGMT was, he had this DJ mash-up of them and Biggie ‘Mo Money Mo Problems’ and it was hot. We were gonna do that ‘Show me what you got’ mash-up…

Noah: That was the original Opposite of Adults

Chiddy: And the next song we were gonna record was this chop-up he [Noah] made with this band called Lafayette Afro Rock Band, the song’s called Darkest Light and I had this crazy beat but then I lost my hard drive.

What would each of your super powers be?

Chiddy: Teleportation, I’d go around the world. I’d get more sleep, teleport places right before a show.

Noah: I’d want the ability to move stuff with my mind and get it down to a molecular level. I’d make a band and play all the instruments by myself with my mind on stage.

Ohh! So Famous!

I can’t count the number of times I’ve gone to pay for some bullshit I don’t need, have my debit card get denied, call the bank up and the shit be like $49 bucks overdrawn. I swear banks wait for your balance to get low and that’s when they stike. It’s like their whispering to a friend, “Yo dude, watch this… this ass hole is never going to see this coming.” I’m glad I can count on Dr. Mario tells it like it is.
