The much anticipated Pendulum album entitled Immersion drops today. Album sales are at their worst in history and in order to survive an artist must find new and original ways to stay alive. Pendulum has done exactly this.
But I thought you said Pendulum is releasing an album today, so what in the freaking wakkos are you talking about?

Pendulum is the first Drum and Bass act to transition into the mainstream. They’ve always stayed true to their sound and were able to make the move by introducing live performance D&B shows. Becoming the very first Drum and Bass band.
This is an extremely important element of any act “making it”. It’s all in how you bill yourself as an artist. Ratatat, MGMT, Guetta and even Lady Gaga are all electronic artists billed as a band or a pop artist. Guetta is a producer, but he collaborates with musicians that have a strong live presence. It’s not about CD sales anymore, it’s about shows.

Pendulum has adapted by releasing songs that immediately paint a picture and leave you amped for their live performances. Some tracks on Immersion give DnB fans the instant gratification they’ve come to expect from Pendulum while others dive into the other genres of electronica music.
~Ohh! So Famous!
great article other than the glaring mistakes present in the paragraph reading “Pendulum is the first Drum and Bass act to transition into the mainstream. They’ve always stayed true to their sound and were able to make the move by introducing live performance D&B shows. Becoming the very first Drum and Bass band”…if you had done your homework you might have heard of Goldie-who went mainstream a good fifteen years before pendulum (appearances by david bowie and one of the ape brothers from oasis adding to the whole mainstream thing)..also pendulum were not the first live drum n bass band-look 13 years prior to pendulum and you would have noticed a very popular album by roni size and reprazent which had live gigs with live drummer and band also you appear to have overlooked the still current london elektricity who have appeared at london’s jazz cafe/the big chill etc. again as a live band…
I should point out that there are a whole heap of other live drum n bass acts who have been constantly gigging but have not reached the mainstream yet and don’t feel the need to water down their sound to appeal to the masses.
New album sounds like a game of battleships, shooting out into as many genres as possible to get a “hit”. Wheres the deepness to the tunes now-days? there’s something missing from these last 2 albums. but that’s the point now isn’t it, shallow tunes make good catchy loops that are engineered to get inside your head and making u more likely in buying the album. In saying that i also believe it could b an attempt in sharing drum and bass with the masses (as apposed to bringing new-sound/mainstream into drum and bass) intentionally providing a great big doorway into the underground. People who journey further into the artistic creations, i take my hat off 2 and welcome them fully. There’s a reason why it ant very popular and that’s to keep all the people who don’t give a shit about the music, out of the venues. I really hope the money pendulums made has been worth selling-out a part of dnb and contaminating it. Good work guys, lets hope your “hits” don’t destroy anymore friendly locations
I really dont understand why so many Pendulum fans are turning away because they are becoming more mainstream – i think its ridiculous. I personally think its a great album, I liked Pendulum’s early stuff and I think they were just getting better with every album. This one is my favourite so far. Yes this album doesnt stick to one style but I think thats a good thing. Good review
