I was catching up on submissions this morning and was introduced to Dynamics, an electro duo out of San Francisco whose remix of “Fences” kills “it”. And when I say this remix kills “it”, I mean the remix slaughters “it”. “It” will surely not recover from this remix. Yes, that good.

Once upon a time in a financially unstable land far far away, there was a drug dealer (let’s call them EMI for the sake of this story) who owed their drug dealer alot of money. But drugs just weren’t selling the way they use to.

EMI’s drug dealer (let’s call him CitiGroup) was so fed up EMI they called them up and said, “Look bitch, you own us alot and I mean ALOT of money. Pay up or your dead.”

Luckily, EMI was also a pimp and had some prostitutes that could help him raise the money needed to stay alive. EMI’s bottom bitch (say.. Terra Firma) was much much prettier than all the rest and EMI knew this. He talked to Terra Firma every day, motivating her to do her best and raise the money so they could still be together.

Terra Firma knew what she has to do, she loved EMI so damn much. She went out there and whored harder than she’d never whored before but they were still short. The day of the deadline was near approaching and they began to panic.

Was this going to even work?
What if they didn’t make the money in time?
Or worse… what if EMI was killed? No… we musn’t say such things.

Finally the day of collection came. This was it. They began counting their money again to make sure they hadn’t made a mistake. Could this really be happening? Terra Firma had done it. She had raised enough money to save EMI’s life and they could finally be together!

Unfortunately… this was not the last time EMI owed money to the wrong people. Not even a month later EMI needed to pay another $365 million to a previously opened UK chapter of his organization and the troubles did not stop there.

In a failing economy where business models of the past proved no longer viable, EMI failed to develop innovative, forward thinking ideas and was killed in March of 2011.

The much anticipated Pendulum album entitled Immersion drops today. Album sales are at their worst in history and in order to survive an artist must find new and original ways to stay alive. Pendulum has done exactly this.

Pendulum is the first Drum and Bass act to transition into the mainstream. They’ve always stayed true to their sound and were able to make the move by introducing live performance D&B shows. Becoming the very first Drum and Bass band.

This is an extremely important element of any act “making it”. It’s all in how you bill yourself as an artist. Ratatat, MGMT, Guetta and even Lady Gaga are all electronic artists billed as a band or a pop artist. Guetta is a producer, but he collaborates with musicians that have a strong live presence. It’s not about CD sales anymore, it’s about shows.

Pendulum has adapted by releasing songs that immediately paint a picture and leave you amped for their live performances. Some tracks on Immersion give DnB fans the instant gratification they’ve come to expect from Pendulum while others dive into the other genres of electronica music.

Next up we have band out of Hungary, Saturate. Giving us a electro remix of Amanda Blank’s – “I Might Like You Better” that isn’t so Millionaires-esque. Thank… fucking… god. I’d take this version to the original any day of the week.

What you came out with right after leaving FFTL was good, but honestly I expected a little more. I have to admit, I turned my back on you for a bit there. For shame. I’ve been getting some fantastic new material to blog about lately. Thank you everyone for your submissions, keep them coming in.

I love musicians who refuse to limit themselves to the stereotypes of genres. Mitten is a female indie pop duo out of Brooklyn who have found a perfect balance of electronic and pop music. This first track “Similar Sense”, couldn’t help remind me of Phoenix.

After taking one listen, it’s not hard to see why they have been gaining enormous support from all corners of them internets. Mittens is currently recording an EP and has plans to release it later this year.

Next up we have My Satellite out of Los Angeles. This young producer clean production style make for an electrifying sound. The layers of instrumentation in his track, “A Nighttime Daydream” explode into your eardrums.

In July 2007, UNKLE’s video for “Burn My Shadow” was released. Simply put, this video is a brilliant work of art. You’ve heard this song if you’ve seen Repo Men. (The scene where Jude Law goes postal on everyone). Fast forward to 2010 and UNKLE returns with a new full length album titled, “Where Did The Night Fall”.

UNKLE is known for being a cinematic and visually inspired band which I completely identify with. I’ve had close friends of mine throw on a movie, put it on mute, and create songs based on what they feel fits to the visuals.

Have two great Hip Hop artists in store today. Let’s kick it off. Chiddy Bang is duo out of Philly who’s been taking take the world by storm. Known for their ability to use samples in fresh new ways, “Opposite of Adults” gives an attractive make over to MGMT’s – “Kids”. Expect these guys to go all the way. Chiddy Bang on iTunes.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve gone to pay for some bullshit I don’t need, have my debit card get denied, call the bank up and the shit be like $49 bucks overdrawn. Everyday I, is a band out of Orlando, FL who live by the rules of today. The instrumentation behind “13 Miles” has an ethereal quality, while the vocals are very gritty. This makes for a interesting landscape of sound that’s very pleasing to the ear.

An entire sea apart we come to our next rock band out of Nottingham, The Burt Bacharak Fight Club. I love their name, sounds like a horror film that’s scary as shit. When listening to “Blight” I couldn’t help but hear the similarities to Kaiser Chiefs – “I Predict a Riot”. Great song and band to be brought back to. I’m addicted to how heavy the snares are in this song.

Awe, shit. Kelis’s album “Flesh Tone” leaked a couple days ago and it is the sex. In spirit of the “electronic mainstream movement”, her debut single “Acapella” has already topped UK charts and the other 8 tracks leave her well armed to take the rest of the world by storm. These first two tracks definitely have single potential.

She worked with an all star line up on this album, everyone from David Guetta to Benny Benassi. “Flesh Tone” has nine tracks that cater to the indie and mainstream electronic music listeners alike.

This last track is more on the indie side of electronic music and has a clear french electro vibe. I never would have expected a few years back that the same girl who gave us “Bossy” and “Milkshake” would be giving doctor prescribed injections of electro in 2010.
